An intriguing retained cud exists on the west side of this Lincoln wheat cent. We've seen hundreds of cuds and this one is mystifying. Stretching from just below the L of LIBERTY it ends at the IN of the motto and has a look unlike other cuds. The raised portion doesn't reach the rim yet it is definitely a rim to rim break and the reverse shows little sign of disturbance except whatappears to be some light post mint scratches. A good study for the cud collector.
