3¢ Silver and 3¢ Nickel

A trime or three cent silver is a the smallest coin ever minted by the US 1851-1873. The first three years were 75% silver and starting 1954 were 90% silver. Since the public hoarded the silver in the trime, the mint produced the Nickel three cent pieces from 1865 to 1889 consisting of 75% copper and 25% nickel. All were minted in Philadelphia.
